Peter J Cangemi

Peter Jan Cangemi, 79, of Grant Township, died Thursday, June 12, 2025.

He was born October 21, 1945 in Grosse Pointe to the late Peter and Marion “Mary” Cangemi. He married Catherine S. MacCallum on June 10, 1967 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2023 after 56 years of marriage.

Peter was the administrator of Marwood Nursing and Rehab for 31 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the boards of both Blue Water Hospice and the Visiting Nurse Association, playing a role in their merger in 1992. He also served on the St. Clair County Skill Center Advisory Board. Peter was involved with the Boy Scouts of America Blue Water Council since the mid 1980’s, serving in a variety of capacities including Unit Commissioner and volunteer with Marysville Troop 216. He was a member of the Silver Beavers, which is the highest council-level service award. Peter was active with the Antique Car Club and the Wills Sainte Claire Automobile Museum.

He is survived by three children, Renée Cangemi, Raquel Cangemi and Matthew (Tonya) Cangemi; four grandchildren, Ian, Skyler, Hailey and Aiden Cangemi; brother, Michael Cangemi; brother-in-law, Edward (Maureen) MacCallum; sister-in-law, Shelly (Bill) Albers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mark Cangemi, Harriett Waltz and Ann O’Rouke.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
