Richard Edwin “Rick” Whitford, 79, of Port Huron, died Saturday, June 21, 2025.

He was born on March 2, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Lloyd and Delores Whitford. He married Helen Atkins on July 2, 1996 in Port Huron.

Rick served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Port Huron Hospital now McLaren Hospital as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for many years. He was an avid reader, loved to play Scrabble and enjoyed watching football, basketball and spending time in Lewiston.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Helen; two daughters, Anne (Andrew) Sherwood and Sarah Whitford; Helen’s two children, Jennifer Layton (deceased) and Christopher (Diane) Atkins; grandchildren, Ellie Sherwood, Sophie Sherwood, Ethan Layton, and Matthew Layton; sister, Barbara Whitford; and nieces Beth Hensel and Molly Faath.

No services are scheduled.
