Steven C Petersen

Steven Charles Petersen, 73, of Marysville, died peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born August 25, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Charles and Helen Petersen. He married Theresa Prost on April 3, 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mr. Petersen served with the U. S. Coast Guard for 31 years and then was employed as a civilian employee for an additional 9 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, going to concerts and listening to music. Having been born in Minnesota, Steve was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa; three children, Shannon (Gary) Burgess Jr., Heather (Carl) Petersen Scott, and Eric Petersen (Erica Rittenhouse); eight grandchildren, Nathan, Noah and Nichole Burgess, Acacia Jemison, Douglas and Joshua Brace, Olivia and Whitney Schulz; three siblings, Cindy Sager, Scott Petersen and Amy Petersen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Petersen; brother-in-law, David Sager and nephew, Chad Sager.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. on August 2, 2025.
