Christine J Armstrong-Birtch
Christine Jacqueline Armstrong-Birtch, 73, of Avoca, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025.
She was born October 5, 1951 in Brown City to the late Archibald R. “Jack” and Jacqueline E.M. Armstrong. Christine married Edward R. “Ted” Birtch on September 20, 1986 in North Street United Methodist Church and they enjoyed 36 years together until his passing on January 1, 2023.
Christine was a 1969 graduate of Yale High School. She was employed at the Emmett Post Office for over 40 years until her retirement in 2022, where many of her customers became very close friends. She was also a member of the Avoca United Methodist Church.
Christine loved going camping and fishing and always cherished her many trips up north to Oscoda, Michigan where she enjoyed spending time telling stories around the campfire and reminiscing with her entire family. She liked riding the pontoon boat on the Au Sable River and vacationing and sightseeing all over northern Michigan and the U.P., as well as going camping at Fort Wilderness in Florida. Christine loved playing softball and played for many years all throughout the Port Huron area. She also always enjoyed spending time by the Blue Water Bridge.
More recently, Christine’s (or Mimi as she was lovingly called) world revolved around her grandsons, and she never missed a practice, game, or event that they were involved in, especially baseball.
Christine was a wonderful person who was always there when someone needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Her love was the foundation of her family, and her kindness left a mark on everyone that she met. She will always be loved in the hearts of everybody who met her. Her spirit and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
She is survived by two children, Jennifer (Jim Scally) Armstrong-Scally and Christopher Armstrong-Birtch; two grandsons, Jaxson and Jace; her brother, Jack (Korin) Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; and her brother, Roger “Amo” Debuf.
Christine’s family invites you to join them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday September 27th at the Avoca United Methodist Church for a visitation, followed by a service honoring her beautiful life at 11:00 a.m. A meal will follow the service.
Burial will be at a later date in Ruby Cemetery, Clyde Township. Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
