Janet E Arno Lomasney

May 23rd, 1947 to August 24th, 2025
Obituary

Janet Eva Lomasney, 78, of Marysville, was guided by the hand of God and joined her predeceased family at His table in Heaven on Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/vascular dementia in June 2016 and those challenges and emotional struggles came to a close at home with her beloved Ron at her side.

Janet was born May 23, 1947 in Detroit to the late Earl and Naoma Arno. After graduation from North Farmington High School, Janet earned a BA degree from Western Michigan University. She continued her studies with a nine-week educational trip through ten European countries. Janet then applied her educational experience at Marysville High School, where she taught French, Spanish and European culture for 31 years. During her career, she earned a master’s degree from Marygrove College. Janet’s passion for travel and learning took her to many states from the east to west coasts, and all the way to Hawaii.

A lifelong love of music led Janet to join the local Sweet Adeline chapter which she sang in for 28 years. In addition, she, along with Georgia and Miriam Phelan and Donna Brusate formed the barbershop quartet, “Just for Kicks”. They delighted audiences at many gatherings, but Boat Night was always the highlight.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ronald; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bowser, Rose Moore, and Mary (Victor) Roesch; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Arno and his beloved wife, Barbara; and brother-in-law, Fred Lomasney.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Janet will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
