Joanne F "Jo" Erard

Joanne Florence “Jo” Erard, 75, of Smiths Creek, died Friday, September 19, 2025.

She was born May 16, 1950 in Sandusky to Joseph and Helen Erard.

Jo spent 35 years teaching high school, middle school, and elementary school special education in the Philadelphia School District. She loved reading, traveling, especially to Vermont, and liked hot air balloons, snowmen and warm weather. She dreamed of owning a yellow VW bus.

She is survived by her sister, Juliette Koon; two brothers, Harold (Deb) Armstead Jr. and Mark (Cindy) Armstead; two stepbrothers, Rich (Cheri) Armstead and Bob (Sharon) Armstead; brother-in-law, Larry Cobb; sister-in-law, Cathy Armstead; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her partner, Christine Alvord; father, Joseph Erard; mother, Helen (Erard) Armstead; stepfather, Harold Armstead; and siblings, Henry (Ginny) Tanton, Herb (Barb) Tanton, Ray Koon, Joe (Karen) Armstead, Shirley Cobb, Dorothy (Jerry) Cobb, and Ron Armstead.

Private graveside services will be held in Downing Cemetery, Deckerville.
