Harold Smith
Harold Bernard Smith, 67, of Port Huron Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2025.
He was born August 10, 1958 in Detroit to the late Harrison and Mary Ann Smith. He attended school in Detroit and graduated from Mackenzie High School. Shortly after graduation, Harold began working at New Haven Foundry, where he remained a dedicated employee for years.
Harold was a music lover with a deep passion for writing poetry and studying the Bible in his free time. Though he experienced a season in his youth where he strayed into street life - Harold ultimately returned to his Christian foundation - one that had been deeply instilled in him from an early age. He renewed faith shaped him into the strong, God-fearing man we all love and remember today.
On July 2, 1990, Harold married Lena Mason Smith, and together they shared a blended family of five children, Harrison (Heather) Haynes, Alicia Haynes, Shatina Cureton, Brandon (Crystal) Hill and Courtney Smith. He was a proud grandfather to Maleah Haynes, Nevaeh Hill, Mariah Smith, Hassan Cureton, Anthony Crudup, and Ahjanae McRoberts. He also served as a father and grandfather figure to Sharita and Latonya Haynes, Angela, Neavar, Lano and Destiny Hill, and Alicia, Amber and Ashley Lutz - all of whom he loved dearly. He was the only son among three siblings, Betty Reynolds, who preceded him in death, Sandra Smith and Mychelle Smith. He also shared a brotherly bond with his cousins, Michael Owens- McBride and Robert Johnson.
Harold was a beloved member of Kingdom Authority Ministries, where he faithfully served for many years and was ordained as an Elder. His devotion to God and community was evident in everything he did. Known as a “gentle giant”, Harold had a heart as pure as gold - always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, and words of wisdom and encouragement. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his compassion, strength, and unwavering faith. In the words he often shared: “Lord, deliver them as You delivered me.” Amen.
