Nicholas A. "Nick" George

Nicholas Allen “Nick” George, 93, of Marysville, died Friday, October 17, 2025.

He was born February 28, 1932, in Detroit to the late Daniel and Mary George. Nick married Mildred Mrmak on September 12, 1959, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. His wife of nearly 64 years died September 2, 2023.

Nicholas graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit in 1949 and attended Wayne State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. George worked as a State Farm Insurance Agent for over 30 years.

Nick is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. As a devout Serbian Orthodox Christian, he served the St. Lazarus community in Detroit in numerous ways, including as choir director and on the church board. Nick was a dedicated sports fan and loved watching sports, especially the Detroit Lions and Red Wings, with family and friends.

Mr. George is survived by his son, David George and David’s spouse, Kris George (grandchildren, Adam, Eli, and Kara); his son, Don George and Don’s spouse, Paul Cunningham (grandchildren, Nicholas and Vanessa; great-grandson, Rowan). Nick is also survived by his brother, Alexander and his sister-in-law, Dorothy, as well as his sisters-in-law, Helen Girozan, Irene “Cookie” and Mike Borich, and Liz and Don Manella, and their families.

The family extends special thanks to the staff and residents of Mercy Village Senior Living in Port Huron, who provided Nick with a wonderful and supportive community over the past two years, and to the team at the Blue Water Hospice Home who treated him with dignity and respect in his final days.

Inurnment will be with his wife in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
