John D Smith

John Dennis Smith, 73, of Port Huron, passed peacefully Friday, October 24, 2025.

He was born January 6, 1952 in Ferndale to the late Donald and Lois Smith.

John was employed with Chrysler and later UTA prior to his retirement. He loved playing 12-string guitar, the electric keyboard and the harmonica. He also enjoyed history, good food, crafting handmade jewelry and in his younger years riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He especially cherished his time with his great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Jo Sarmiento, Lucretia Smith and Shannon John (Kat) Smith; grandchildren, Rayce, Ralena, and Riley Sarmiento, Kenneth (Mikella) Spencer, Kayla Smith, Lisa Jones and Logan Smith; great grandchildren, Dawson, Elizabeth, Lilith, Ariella, Gabriella, Klark, Lucas, Leo, Dexter and Dahlia; nephew, George Droelle Jr.; great niece and great nephew, Lily and Woods; and sister, Patricia Oliver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; siblings, Charlie, LoAnn, Sandy, Debbie and Don Roy; and niece, Brandi Gries.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
