John "Chris" Meier

John Christian “Chris” Meier, 50, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

He was born August 30, 1975 in St. Clair, the youngest child of the late Jacqueline “Jackie” and William “Bill” Meier Sr.

Chris graduated from Port Huron High School in 1995. He was currently employed as a press operator and hi-lo driver at Michigan Metal Coating Plant 1. Outgoing and full of life, Chris had a passion for inking tattoos and listening to all kinds of music. He also loved working on cars and trucks. More than anything else, his greatest pride and joy was his children.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth “Annie” (Brandon) Szegda, Jonathan Meier, Faith Meier, Dylan Meier and Grace Meier; his loving companion, Laura Buckwheat and Laura’s son, Timothy Kelley Jr. who Chris treated as his own; two brothers, Mark (Lori) Meier and William (Loretta) Meier; two sisters, Brenda (Rick) Leverenz and Nanette Meier; many nieces and nephews; and his feisty cat, Spot, who Chris affectionately referred to as “Moo”. In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Meier; and an infant brother, William.
