William G Becker

William George Becker, 90, of Marysville, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025.

He was born on March 31, 1935 in Detroit to the late Vernie and Margaret Becker.

Bill married his high school sweetheart, Alice J. Brooks, on May 28, 1953 in Angola, Indiana. Together they shared a lifetime of adventure, traveling countless miles by car, plane, sailboat, motorhome and cruise ship. They traveled by RV to 49 of the 50 states, as well as through Canada and Mexico. In 1990 they took their sailboat, “Bodacious”, out of the Great Lakes and spent 13 ½ months traveling to Florida, the Bahamas and back home again.

He worked alongside his father in building Becker Bottled Gas, and when the business was later purchased by Flamegas, he became the manager of Flamegas Port Huron Corporation. When Petrolane acquired the Flamegas group, Bill continued his career as plant manager until moving on to Huron Automatic Screw Co., where he worked in sales until his retirement in September 1994.

Bill was especially skilled in technology. He was proud of his private pilot’s license and his license as an amateur ham radio operator. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron Yacht Club and Port Huron Sail and Power Squadron.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice; daughter, Marta B. Howell of Englewood, FL; son, Douglas K. (Susan) Becker of Montpelier, VT; four grandchildren, Erika M. Howell, B. Elena (Andrew) Ameter, Christopher (Cassie) Becker, and Andrew J. Becker; great grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Ameter; sister-in-law, Mary Brooks; and several wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert (Ann) Becker.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Mark Madson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
