Madeline Y Avery
Madeline Yvonne Avery, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
She was born during a blizzard on March 28, 1934 at the family home in Jeddo to the late Travers L. and Cecil E. Keener. She married the love of her life, Raymond S. Avery, in 1954 and they were married for 61 wonderful years until he preceded her in death on July 10, 2015.
Madeline graduated from Croswell Lexington High School. She was a “wedding coordinator” before that was an official role, and along with her husband, Ray, operated Avery Photography for 15 years. During their time in Arizona, she also worked as a senior facility activities coordinator and a receptionist at Rogers Corp. Madeline was a longtime dedicated member of Colonial Woods Missionary Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Louis) Gostinger and Trish (Konrad) Swenson; grandsons, Kyle (Inga) Gostinger, Tyler (Kelsey) Gostinger, Austin Swenson and Spencer Swenson; great grandchildren, Sofia, Grayson and Kira; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Madeline was preceded in death by her siblings, Zetta (William) Essenburg, Alberta (Ford) Robson, Fredrick “Fritz” (Carol) Keener and Jane (George) Kidd; and parents-in-law, Rev G.C. and Rita Avery.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron and private family graveside services will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Clair County Veterans Affairs with the memo Emergency Hardship Fund to help veterans in need.
