James E Grant Jr
James Everet “Jim” Grant Jr., 54, of Smiths Creek died on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
He was born on August 12, 1971 in Port Huron and was a 1989 graduate of Port Huron High School, where he played on the football team.
Jimmy was the master of bowling. He worked for and managed 5 Star Lanes Bowling Alley in Sterling Heights for over 35 years. Competitive, yet humble, he took pride in helping other bowlers learn and improve their game. He also enjoyed playing golf, euchre, and other card games. Jimmy had a deep appreciation for music and sharing it with others. He had a vast knowledge of all types of music, but his favorite was KISS.
Family bonfires and gatherings were always better with Jimmy’s great stories and jokes. He was unapologetically himself and embraced the strikes as well as the spares of life.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, his "girl", Zoe; sister, Barbara (T.J.) Sullivan; several cousins, including Loretta (Lewis) Harnden and George (Vanessa) Adams and their children; many dear family friends; and his Five Star Lanes family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Grant.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Five Star Lanes, 2666 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights.
Memorials may be made to the family.
