Gail Kallal
Gail Kallal, 77, of Algonac, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
She was born September 25, 1948 in Detroit to the late William and Janice Russell.
Gail was a compassionate caretaker, always putting others first and worked for several years at the Council on Aging. She enjoyed going to yard sales and bringing home little treasures for her grandchildren, going to the casino, online gaming, going on drives with Ed, handfeeding squirrels at her house, and planting flowers and fruits, especially lilies of the valley, irises, lilies, morning glories, and raspberries. She was strong in her faith and took great comfort from her recent visit by the clergy of St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church.
Gail was an exceptional cook, always making dishes from scratch. Holiday gatherings were filled with laughter and messy, but wonderful, meals. One of her favorite things to cook was shrimp, which she and Ed would get from the Harper Fish Market. She had a love of music that she shared with her husband and passed down to her children and grandchildren. Whether it was classic rock or her favorite, Abba, music was always playing throughout the house and in the car. Gail loved her many dogs including most recently, Chloe and Sadie.
Above all else, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren who loved her deeply as well. She enjoyed spending time with them and being her playful and sassy self.
She is survived by her husband and love for over 56 years, Edward “Ed” Kallal; son, William (Patty) Russell; daughter, Jennifer Buckhana; grandchildren, Aidan and Reace Buckhana; sister, Kathleen Russell; her nieces and nephews, Marissa, Marcus, Grace and Christopher; and great nieces and nephew, Maddie, Oceana, and Orion. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn (Oliver) Shelksohn and her nephew Owen Shelksohn.
Cremation has been entrusted to Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Council on Aging.

Gail took great comfort in these verses from Psalm 139 shared with her in recent days.
O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit or stand. When far away you know my every thought. You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am. You know what I am going to say before I even say it. You both precede and follow me and place your hand of blessing on my head. This is too glorious, too wonderful to believe! Psalm 139: 1-6
