Susan Elizabeth Fischer, 55, of Grand Blanc, died Wednesday, December 3, 2025 after a valiant fight with cancer.

She was born June 13, 1970 in Port Huron to the late William and A. Joan Fischer.

Susan was a teacher in every way that mattered - in classrooms, shelters, restaurants, and everyday life. She spent over 15 years serving students, including 11 years at McKinley Middle School in Flint, where she taught eighth-grade Language Arts and quietly supported countless kids with clothes, books, food, and fierce encouragement. Before teaching, she worked as a counselor at a runaway shelter, always meeting people where help was needed most. Susan faced life with grit and humor, even through her long battle with gastrointestinal cancer, advocating not just for herself but for others navigating hardship and illness.

She was an ardent women’s rights advocate and supported marijuana rights, going so far as to testify in front of the state legislature for the cause. Susan was also a devoted animal lover, who was especially fond of cats. She will be remembered for her feisty personality, awesome hair days, and perfectly-timed words of wisdom.

She is survived by her brother, Eric Fischer; five beloved nieces and nephews, Alyssa LaFave, Cory Fischer, Kirra Fischer, Aidyn Rapley-Fleming and Liam Rapley-Fleming; great nephew, Colton; aunt, Terry Fischer; cousins, Kim, Shelly and Julie Fischer; and countless incredible friends.

Visitation will be announced and burial will be at Clinton Grove Cemetery - Linden Meadow Green Burial Grounds, Clinton Township.
