Joan Potter
Joan E. Potter, 81, of Port Huron died unexpectedly, Thursday, May 17, 2012.
She was born March 29, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Wallace and Flora Child and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Potter was employed for many years in the library at Keewahdin Elementary School and after her retirement she was active as a tutor with the Woodrow Wilson reading program. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and the Marysville Card Club.
She is survived by three sons, Terry (Susan) Welch of Harrison Township, Randall (Cheryl) Welch of Royal Oak and Michael (Karen) Potter of Port Huron; four grandchildren, Cory and Kyle Welch, Ashton and Addison Potter; long time companion, Donald Porter; her sister, Marilyn Yeager; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Potter; brother, Fraser Wallace Child; and sister, Barbara Klammer.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Our Saviour Lutheran Church. The Reverend Donald Doerzbacher will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or Woodrow Wilson School.
