Shirley A Auringer
Shirley Anne Auringer, 92, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was born July 8, 1933 in Detroit to the late Eugene and Laverna Dunbar. She married William F. “Bill” Auringer on July 9, 1955 in First Congregational Church in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2006 after 51 years of marriage.
Shirley was employed at North American Benefit Association for many years before her retirement. She and Bill were members of V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post 796 and American Legion Charles Hammond Post # 8. She loved to read, enjoyed watching movies and had a fondness for Tootsie Roll Pops.
She is survived by her son, William “Scott” (Becky) Auringer; daughter, Jill Willey; four grandchildren, Cory (Courtney) Auringer, Megan (Trevor) Auringer-Wilson, Michael (Sheila) Willey and Sarah (Jared) Semrow; seven great grandchildren, Morgan Brooks, Braeden Brooks, Sam Willey, Kannon Semrow, Colen Semrow, Chloe Auringer, Isla Wilson; and three great-great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Dunbar and her special friend, Jane Auringer Danjin.
The family is very grateful to the wonderful care Medilodge of Port Huron provided to Shirley.
Private graveside services will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot in the spring of 2026. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
