Helen Mason

June 7th, 1950 to December 15th, 2025

Helen Louise Mason, 75, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord on Monday December 15, 2025.

She was born June 7th, 1950 in Port Huron to the late George C Spear IV and James Ella Spear. She married Cornelius B. Mason Jr. on November 5, 1972 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2006 after 33 years of marriage.

Helen graduated from Port Huron Northern High School and went to SC4 to complete her certificate in accounting. She worked at the women’s shelters in Port Huron and took great care of her husband until he passed. Helen and her husband attended All Nations Church of God in Christ serving under Superintendent Vincent E Matthews Sr.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, doing crossword puzzles and watching television, and most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. She was a strong woman, full of life, love, and laughter and could make anyone smile. She carried a positive attitude in everything she did, often reminding others with her favorite words, “It’s gonna be alright, don’t worry.”

Helen also loved going out to eat. One of her favorite meals was a Big Mac, large-sized, with a Pepsi or a two-liter Ruby Red Squirt, and she always topped it off with a piece of chocolate cake.

She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Sonjia (Randolph) Davis; son, Cornelius B. Mason II; six grandchildren, Di’Mond(Tyler) Carrothers, Da’More(Latrel) Gamez, Destyne Davis, Joseph Lincoln, Sara Rose and Emma Mason; seven great grandchildren, DeAnthony Billy, Rashad Carrothers, Avi'Yonnah and Azaylah Gamez, Joseph and Marcel Lincoln and Jasaini Nelson; a host of nieces and nephews; two siblings, George C. Spear V and Veronica L. Spear; and a goddaughter, Andera Evans of South Korea.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by three sisters, Lucille Woodley, Pearl Mae Jones and Suzette Mitchell; and two best friends, Betty Kurt and Stella Crews. The family would like to give a special thanks to her nurse, Holly Best and the Elara Caring staff, Select Medical in Macomb County and Marwood Nursing and Rehab under the supervision of her granddaughter, Di'Mond M. Carrothers, RN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Carl E. Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
