Dixie Kromer
Dixie Louana Kromer, 97, of Kimball Township, died peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
She was born April 21, 1928 in Valier, Pennsylvania to the late Lynn and Mona Means. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1945 and moved to Washington D.C. to work for the U.S. Tax Court and Veterans Administration. She also lived in Denver, Colorado, where she worked for various law firms before moving back to Pennsylvania. She married Robert Emmett “Sam” Kromer on August 16, 1958 in Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2021 after 63 years of marriage.
Dixie was an active member of First Congregational Church for over 50 years and took part in a quilting club for many years.
She is survived by her son, Eric Kromer; daughter, Karen (Erik) Sharrard; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Bill), Brendon, Sarah (Bradley) and Hannah; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Loree Gehrig and Pam (Scott) Mangione; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Kromer; four brothers; and three sisters.
Private family services will be held. The Reverend Dr. Thomas Seppo will officiate.
Burial will be in Valier Cemetery, Valier, Pennsylvania.
