Elaine C "Amy" Visga

Elaine Carol “Amy” Visga, 77, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 9, 1948 in Detroit to the late Russell and Violet Somes. She married James L. “Jim” Visga, the love of her life and lifelong partner, on September 28, 1968 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. Together they built a life rooted in love, family and devotion. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2020 after 51 years of marriage.

Elaine was a proud graduate of St. Clair High School, Class of 1968. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant before transitioning into customer service, where she spent many years serving her community. Most recently, she worked at Spring Grove Variety before retiring.

She was a master gardener, skilled canner and a true heart of the kitchen. She was especially known for her homemade cakes and desserts made for family gatherings and for creating meaningful keepsakes that brought joy to those she loved. Elaine treasured time spent with her family, particularly crafting and sharing her talents with her grandchildren. She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Joe) Portis and Dennis (Melissa) Visga; grandchildren, Brendon (Alissandra) LaVere, Nicholas (Chelsea) Visga and MacKenzie (Molly) Visga; and great grandchildren, Zoey, Ayden, Justice, Alayshia, Braxton, Millie and Marleigh. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brooke LaVere.
