Delores L "Dorrie" Stark

May 4th, 1930 to January 2nd, 2026

Delores Lucille “Dorrie” Stark, 95, of Marysville, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 2, 2026.

She was born May 4, 1930 in Port Huron to the late Glenn and Margaret Caulkett. She married the love of her life, Harry W. Stark, on July 22, 1960 in First United Methodist Church, Port Huron. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2018, after 58 years of marriage.

Dorrie’s mother passed away when she was 3 months old. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Pat and Bessie Freeland, along with their son Don, whom she always considered her brother.

Dorrie graduated from Port Huron High School in 1948. She continued her education at St. Clair County Community College and the University of Texas-El Paso.

Dorrie loved God and one of the ways she lived her faith was by volunteering in many ways throughout the years. She was a member of the Marysville United Methodist Church where she served in a variety of ways including many hours organizing and preparing meals for funerals and other events. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women, the Eastern Stars, the Marysville Women’s Club, and the Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary. Although she was touched to be honored with Volunteer of the Year from the hospital and the Valient Woman Award from the United Methodist Women, she served because she loved helping and giving back in any way she could find.

She loved to travel and was up for any trip, even well into her 90’s! She loved decorating her home, playing cards, reading, and cooking for whoever was lucky enough to wander into her kitchen. She was happiest when she was surrounded by people sharing stories and laughter and she showered those around her with her kindness and love. One of the ways she showed that love was by sending countless cards and letters and she treasured those she received in return. We will always remember her bright smile and her beautiful gift of making others feel seen and heard.

Dorrie was most proud of her family and the love and care she poured into them will continue to be passed down through the generations. She is survived by her children, Paul (Nann) Stark of Discovery Bay, CA, Karri Jo (Dean) Murayama of Discovery Bay, CA, Kristi (Denny) Socha of Marysville, MI and Paul (Mary Ellen) Meyering of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; grandchildren, Kelcie (Brandon) Murayama-Boyd, Garrett (Gabriella) Murayama, Cameron Socha, Brennan (Elizabeth) Socha, Hannah (fiancé Kurt Leverenz) Socha, Emily (CJ) Short, J.P. Stark, Daniel (Kathleen), Gregory (Sarah), Michael and Thomas Meyering; great-grandchildren, Valentine Meyering and Baby Boy Socha, whose April 2026 arrival she had been eagerly awaiting. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and friends including Bob, Lisa, Robert, Courtney, Brady and Cooper Ross and Steve and Kathy Down. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Freeland, Glenn Caulkett and Bernice Stiefel.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A time of sharing will be held at 7:00 p.m.
