Gretchen Driftmyer

Gretchen Driftmyer, 77, of Port Huron, died Friday, January 2, 2026.

She was born November 1, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Walter and Dorothy Driftmyer.

Gretchen attended Capital University for two years and then received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo. She was employed by the Social Security Administration for many years before her retirement. She was a strong advocate for people with disabilities and disadvantages.

She is survived by her cousin, Julie Popp; her friend, Angela Klocek; and her cat, Jazzie.

Gretchen loved the lake and its ships. Following her wishes, private family services will be held and her ashes will be scattered over the lake in the spring - fair winds and following seas.
