Dorothy L Vanlerberghe

Dorothy Louise Vanlerberghe, 97, of Marysville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

She was born July 17, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Tobias and Barbara Dazer. She married Michael Vanlerberghe on May 21, 1955 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2014 after almost 60 years of marriage.

Dorothy graduated from St. Stephen Catholic High School in 1946. She was employed at Huron Pipe and Supply for several years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society. Dorothy and Michael volunteered as cooks at the Marriage Encounters for many years. They enjoyed many senior trips through their retirement years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and was still enjoying watching them right up until her passing.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn (Michael) McShane, Mary Ann (Steve) Kuehl and Carol (Greg) Wright; five grandchildren, Bryan (Ashleigh) McShane, Melissa (Ben) Hale, Megan (Craig) Jakubiak, Mallory (Kevin) Berry and Kelsey (Drew) Baluch; 11 great grandchildren, Grace Field, Madison, Alex and Lukas Jakubiak, Makenzie and Luke McShane, Charlie and Eleanor Hale, Natalie, Nathan and Ben Berry; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 14 siblings, Vincent Dazer, Helen Dazer-Samuelson, William Dazer, John Dazer, Elizabeth Dazer, Anthony Dazer, Fred Dazer, Mary Dazer-Miller, Anna Dazer-Beeler, Frances Dazer-Bachler, Peter Dazer, Charles Dazer, Emma Herbert and Leonard Dazer.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Vanlerberghe will lie in state in St. Christopher Catholic Church from 10 until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.

The family would like to thank the staff at Marwood Nursing and Rehab for their care of Dorothy the past several years.
