Mary Alice “Tuta” Edwards, 80, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
She was born December 3, 1945, in Brent, Alabama, to the late BirdieMae Culpepper and the late Charlie Lee Jemison. Nicknamed Tuta as a little girl, trouble was never far behind with her older brother Charles. Mary later moved to Port Huron, where she met and married Clinnie Edwards.
In her free time, Mary loved playing cards and cooking dinners for herself and her family. She enjoyed bowling and going to church, but watching her soap opera, The Young and the Restless, was her go-to show, and you better be quiet or get out. Nobody was exempt from this rule, young and old alike. She loved all her grandchildren and truly enjoyed and cherished the time spent together.
Mary is survived by her children, Jerome (Christine) Roberts of Mobile, AL; Lorraine Jemison of Leland, NE; Brenda (Sylvester) Henderson of Port Huron, MI; Anthony Edwards (Sheila Charleston) of Clinton Township, MI; James Jemison (Billie-Jo Dortman) of Port Huron, MI; and Leon Jemison of Port Huron, MI; many loved and cherished grandchildren, including 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jewell Graham of Port Huron, MI, Amy Hunter, and Helen Fleming of Talladega, AL; her brothers, Eddie (Priscatta) Jemison of Mobile, AL and Chester Jemison of Port Huron, MI; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Clinnie Edwards; three brothers, Jean, Charlie, and Bobby Jemison; and two grandchildren.
Mary was a wife, mother, and friend. Her conversations, words of wisdom, and laughter will truly be missed. Mary’s words will live on within us all. We love you and miss you dearly.
Private family services will be held.
