Phyllis Simpson

Phyllis Elaine Simpson, 88, of North Street, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

She was born September 25, 1923 in Marysville to the late Richard and Mary Catherine Rose. She married Stanley Simpson on October 10, 1942 in North Street.

Mrs. Simpson was postmaster of North Street Post Office from 1957 to 1982 and was the State Historian for the Postmaster's Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She volunteer at Mercy Hospital and was a member of the Fort Gratiot Lioness Club. Phyllis enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, cooking and baking.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Stanley; two sons, Edward Simpson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Gary (Debbie) Simpson of Reese; seven grandchildren, Terrence, Kevin, Meghan, Jeremy, Scott, Adam and Molly; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Ellis, Eleanor Walker and Marilyn (Jim) Rumley; two brothers, Bud Rose and Arnold (Pat) Rose; three sisters-in-law, Edna McCoy, Betty Simpson and Eloise Young; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend David Gladstone will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township. Pallbearers will be Terrence, Jeremy, Scott and Kevin Simpson, Bill Rock and Tom Rumley.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
