Ulah J "Pepper" Brooks
Ulah Jean “Pepper” Brooks, 86, of Port Huron, formerly of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, died Thursday, February 5, 2026 surrounded by her family.
She was born February 3, 1940 in Nettleton, Arkansas to the late John and Marguerite Taylor.
Pepper was employed in the hospitality industry for many years. She will be remembered for her fabulous cooking, especially the famous chicken and dumplings, wonderful baked goods, and love of traveling, especially to Hawaii. In her free time, Ulah loved going out with family and friends, playing cards, and watching NASCAR and sports, especially the Superbowl. Pepper was also very creative and enjoyed “junking” for treasures and repurposing her finds. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose. More than anything, she was incredibly dedicated to her girls, their families and her siblings.
She is survived by four daughters, Debbie (Neil) Pickelhaupt, Pamela Wyllie, Pennie Costa and Sandra Robinson; 12 grandchildren, Wayne (Trisha) Giles, Derek Daly, Michelle (Lewis) Heldt, Dana (Tim) Vore, Leah (Cory) Verschere, Jesse (Laura) Goodchild, Kayla (James) Brainard, Kevin Dunham, Stephanie Wehrwein, Kimberly Haaman, Lindsay (Desi) Costa and Austin (Christina) Tazzia; 24 great grandchildren, A.J., Macy, Olivia, Adelina, Troy, Logan, Lilly, Lincoln, Landen, Jaydon, James, Jonathan, Madison, Stella Jean, Skylar, Sophia, Mina Dunham (Luke), Shyann (Garrett), James (Rebecca), Miley, Paige, Alexis, MacKenna and Quinn; her brother, Jesse (Helga) Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Terrie Goodchild; grandson, Jonathan Goodchild; three siblings, Glen Taylor, Lynda Waggoner and Carol Cook; and husbands, Alton “Jim” Robinson, Richard Stevenson and Harry Brooks.
A meal and time for Ulah’s family and friends to share memories will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the Fieldhouse Sports Bar & Kitchen, Marysville.
For those planning an expression of sympathy, memorial gifts in Pepper’s name to Mooseheart or American Legion Charles Hammond Post 8 are preferred.
