Richard L "Richie" Cox

March 13, 1971 to February 09, 2026
Obituary

Richard Lee "Richie" Cox, 54, of Marysville died peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026.

He was born on March 13, 1971 in Port Huron. He graduated from Port Huron High School in the Class of 1989.

Richie enjoyed golfing, chess, and bicycling. He valued being with his family, and had a love for nature and animals. He was known for his kindness to all living beings, and his infectious laughter.

As a lifelong musician, performing and producing music were Richie's greatest passions. He could read music by the time he was 7 years old, and before long he could play almost any instrument. He was fluent with bass, guitar, piano, and drums. He enjoyed teaching music to others, and he was always supportive of other musicians. He was active in an array of bands too numerous to list, but notably included Boost & Switch, Turnbuckle, Midtown, and Evil Intentions.

He is survived by what he considered his greatest productions, his children, Grover and Gwendolyn Cox; his longtime partner, Kay Anglebrandt; bonus sons, Tyler and Joshua Anglebrandt; and his grandson, Jaxon; parents, Deborah "Kip" Cox and Leon (Linda) Falk; brother, Craig (Denise) Falk; nieces, Eleanor and Emilia; bonus parents, Tim and Linda Anglebrandt; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his incredible music family.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A livestream of the service will be available on Richie’s obituary page of the funeral home website. Richie enjoyed comfortable clothing, so if you are able, wear your best band shirt to the visitation or service.

Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family.
