David Floyd Hoag, 78, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

He was born April 19, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Floyd and Betty Hoag. He married Deborah S. Moak on November 1, 1996 in Port Huron.

David honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam and retired from the Army National Guard. He was employed with Ford Motor Company at the Romeo Engine Plant for 34 years prior to his retirement. David was a talented artist, and enjoyed reading, woodworking and in his younger years running. David was very active with his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah; children, William Sheffer, Holly Sheffer (Wally Green) and Jason Sheffer; grandchildren, Chanel Sheffer (Damien Kidd), Logan Sheffer (Lilly Knowlton), Nevaeh Sheffer, Cedric Bell Jr. and Parker Sheffer; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Shaun Laurain will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
