Samuel V Velasquez

Samuel Valdez Velasquez, 80, of Mt. Clemens, died Thursday, February 19, 2026.

He was born July 2, 1945 in San Antonia, Texas to the late Alvino and Carlotta Velasquez. He married Ana Marie Castillo on February 24, 1968 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2004 after 36 years of marriage.

Samuel was employed with Ford Motor Company for over 30 years before his retirement in 2002. He then spent his time golfing, singing karaoke and enjoyed reading self-help books to better himself. He loved taking care of his home and spending time there. He adored his three grandsons and referred to them many times as “his world”.

He is survived by his two children, Samuel Velasquez Jr. and Martha Velasquez; grandchildren, Matthew Velasquez (Alysa Morris), Michael Guerrero, Jesse Guerrero and Nicole Brookens; his siblings, Esther Guerrero, MaryHelen Guzman, Robert “Bobby” Velasquez, Richard Velasquez and Alvino Velasquez Jr; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers, George, Eduardo and Luis.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary and a time of sharing will be held at 3:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acerco will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be Samuel Velasquez Jr., Matthew Velasquez, Michael Guerrero, Jesse Guerrero, Mario Velasquez and Pedro Sanchez Jr.
