Lawrence E " Skip" Loxton
Lawrence Erwin “Skip” Loxton, 93, of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, February 20, 2026.
He was born October 13, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Lorne and Elsie Loxton. He married Arlene J. Hartel on May 19, 1951 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2023.
Skip was a self-employed welder for many years prior to retirement. He had a passion for music and loved playing guitar and singing for others at the Port Huron Museum and various area nursing homes. Skip also enjoyed camping, carving, feeding the birds and researching family genealogy. He honorably served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his children, Linda Brittain, Becky Meddaugh, Jackie (Ed) Goebel and Sharon (Butch) Schemansky; six grandchildren, Jeff (Tina) Cutcher, Ben Brittain, Jeri-Lynn Helewski, Kathy Jo (Shawn) Johnston, Michael Schemansky and Scotty (Kristie) Schemansky; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice; grandson, Jason; and son-in-law, Brian Brittain.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Scotty Schemansky will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
