Joyce E Stoner

Joyce Evelyn Stoner, 95, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 19, 2026.

She was born October 25, 1930, in Port Huron, to the late Clarence Edgar and Beatrice Scott. As a child, Joyce took piano lessons and played for the Children’s Bible Hour on a local radio station. She grew up attending Griswold Street Baptist Church under the preaching ministry of Pastor Jordan.

Joyce graduated from Port Huron High School in 1948, attended Port Huron Junior College and Taylor University, and earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Houghton College in 1952. She later obtained a Master’s degree in reading from Michigan State and an Educational Specialist degree.

On August 1, 1953, she married Keith Edward Stoner at Griswold Street Baptist Church. Joyce was employed with the Port Huron Area School District, retiring as a reading specialist in 1990 after 25 years.

A lifelong member of Griswold Street Baptist Church, Joyce faithfully served for many decades as a Sunday School teacher and pianist. She was also a long-time member of the St. Clair County Gideons Women’s Auxiliary. Joyce and Keith loved supporting missionaries and often opened their home to those returning on furlough.

Joyce and Keith spent many winters in Florida while maintaining their home in Port Huron. They also enjoyed time on Mackinac Island and traveled extensively, including Europe, Hawaii and Israel.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Keith; four children, Vicki, Diane, Steve (Jennifer), and David Stoner; her grandchildren, Abigail, Carter, and Jacob Stoner; and several cousins.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Griswold Street Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Hollis Chandler will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot.
