Yvonne Davidson Thompson
Yvonne Davidson Thompson, 88, of Marysville, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness.
She was born July 5, 1923 in Detroit to the late Walter and Ethel Davidson. She married William P. "Bill" Thompson on February 24, 1951 in Lansing and they were married 61 years, 3 months and 10 days.
Mrs. Thompson was employed by Peoples Bank/NBD at the Marysville Branches for 14 years until her retirement July 31, 1987. She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature from Michigan State College in 1945. She had five ancestors on the Mayflower.
She is survived by her husband Bill; daughter, Leslie Herman of Wadhams; daughter-in-law, Annette Goike Thompson of Armada; four grandchildren, Jeffrey P. (Jill) Herman, Robert C. (Jessica Tripi) Herman, William J. Thompson and Rebecca C. Thompson; two great grandchildren, Karoline Herman and Ethan Loope; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Richard Thompson, Betty Branch, Walter "Jack" (Clarice) Thompson and Catherine Waters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Thompson in 2008; grandson, Kenneth Thompson in 2003; son-in-law, Charles Herman in 2006; and sister, Phyllis Blymyer in 2004.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 in Marysville United Methodist Church followed by a luncheon in fellowship hall. The Reverend Barbara Welbaum will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or Port Huron Township for either the Township Museum or fishing clinic.
