Elaine L Snyder

Mrs. Elaine Lucille Snyder, 96, of Fort Gratiot, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026.

She was born August 15, 1929 to the late Annie and Frank Wheeler. She married Jack Snyder on March 23, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1986 after 36 years of marriage.

Elaine started as a switchboard operator and then worked in the office at Michigan Bell Telephone (now AT&T) for over 30 years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending her time wintering in south Texas, square dancing, and enjoying Lake Huron. She supported her children and grandchildren through various sports and activities in the Port Huron area and beyond, and taught several generations of lake visitors to water ski. Elaine’s wit, wisdom and generosity will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, R. Thomas (Deborah) Snyder, Linda Draves, and Scott (Julie) Snyder; grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Levasseur, Amy (Dan) Lee, Jordan Draves, and Jacqueline Snyder; great-grandchildren, Jack, Kate, Bridger, Russell, Brooke, and Blake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Lewandowski and Nancy Newberry; and many loving animal companions.

A private family memorial event will be held this summer. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
