Janice M Karner

Janice Marie Karner, 85, of Marysville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

She was born May 21, 1940 in Yale, Michigan to the late Douglas and Leah Cimmer.

Janice had a master's degree in Special Education and taught fifth grade and Home Bound with the Port Huron Area School District for 27 years. She was a proud member of the Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association. She was an avid quilter, and member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by two sons, Peter (Lee) Karner and Mark (Ann) Karner; grandchildren Sophia and Cimmer Karner; sister, Marcia Porte-Phillips (Dick); several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A memorial service at First United Methodist Church will be announced at a later date. The Reverend Drew Hart will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Blue Water Hospice Home.
