Larry G Miller
Larry Gale Miller, 93, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
He was born March 29, 1933 in Port Huron to the late Manville and Leona Miller. He married Carol J. Washburn on November 27, 1957 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2024 after 66 years of marriage.
Larry was a 1950 graduate of Port Huron High School and then served in the U.S. Navy before receiving a master’s degree in 1960 from Central Michigan University. He was a teacher with the Port Huron Area School District for 34 years before his retirement in 1993 and also was employed with U.S. Customs on the Blue Water Bridge for many years. He was a long-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where he taught Bible classes for over 40 years, sang in the choir and played handbells. Larry enjoyed golfing and was a voracious reader who loved going to the library and had even written three novels of his own.
He is survived by son, Steven (Kim) Miller; two daughters, Julie (Timothy) Rock and Heidi (Paul) Bartle; seven grandchildren, Jillian (John) Bertich, Katelin (Darnell) Kidd, Christopher (Brenna) Miller, Joshua (Stacie Herrera) Rock, Thomas (Melissa Neacato) Rock, Matthew (Ana Fuentes) Bartle and Laura (Daniel) Gaffney; great grandchildren, Donovan and Daylen Kidd, Cora Rock, Brooklyn, Graham and Gavin Rock, Beckett and Quinn Ciesielski, Callum and Clara Gaffney, Brexley Miller, Reese, Brock, Dylan and Mia; his twin brother, Jerry (Bonelle) Miller; brother-in-law, Bob Herber; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn (Dave) Schwabauer and Sandy Herber; and brother, Dave Miller.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Roxie Davis will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy.
