Margaret J Lovett

Margaret Joanne Lovett, 88, of Port Huron, died Sunday, May 3, 2026.

She was born in 1937 in Degolia, Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and her master's from the University of Michigan. She taught art in the public school system for 33 years, including 30 years in the Port Huron Area School District, where she retired in 1995. She was a proud union member and a talented artist whose work appeared in many shows.

Margaret loved art, history, politics, travel, folk dance, and reading in a wide variety of subjects. She served with the Friends of the Library and, after her retirement, volunteered as a teacher of remedial reading. She had a strong social conscience and contributed to multiple charities. She was a kind, attentive, and interesting person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Lovett; niece, Jennifer Lovett; great nephew, Jackson Won; and stepmother, Phyllis Lovett. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Lovett; mother, Isabel Theis; and brother, Richard Lovett Jr.

A memorial service will be announced.

Burial will be in Watsontown Cemetery, Pennsylvania.
