James D "Jim" Anderson

August 19, 1946 to May 08, 2026

James D. “Jim” Anderson, 79, of Marysville, MI was welcomed into the Kingdom of God Friday, May 8, 2026.

He was born August 19, 1946 in Detroit to the late James and Margaret Anderson. Jim married Susan Yaklin on May 17, 1986 in Port Huron.

God and family were Jim’s main focus. He was a kind, strong man who loved his country. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for almost 4 years. After completing his time in the military, he worked as a supervising operator at Detroit Edison for 43 years before retiring in 2012.

Jim loved to fish and enjoyed his fishing trips with John and the guys. Jim was also a talented woodworker, passing it on by working with family members. Jeff and he are in the middle of a project right now. He and his grandsons worked on making a headboard and a little boat with young Simon. Jim loved to be silly and have fun with the great grandkids. Jim’s faith in Jesus Christ kept him reading his Bible and listening to praise music. He never wanted to miss a service at Marysville Assembly of God Church and especially enjoyed the Friday morning breakfasts with his “buddies,” as he called them.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 39 years, Susan; six children, Rachelle (Craig) Stephenson, Dr. Kimberly Anderson (Chris Bush), Scott (Nicole) Anderson, Todd (Laura) Santo, Jeffery (Christine) Anderson, and Kali Anderson; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brother, Steve Anderson; special cousin, Doug (Katie) Appleyard; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Loraine Yaklin, who thought of him as their son; two grandchildren, Phoebe and Ronan Bush; brother, John Anderson; and daughter, Dawn.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A time to share precious memories will be held at 6:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 in Marysville Assembly of God Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Cody Anderson, Zoe Anderson, Matt Purvis, Nash Maggio, Rudy Menchaca and Steve Bonner. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
