Debra J. Buchheister

Debra Jean Buchheister, 71, of Burtchville Township, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 21, 2026 after battling a long illness.

She was born August 10, 1954 in Port Huron to the late Denzil and Sarah Thieke. She married Joseph Buchheister on March 28, 1987 in Port Huron.

Debra dedicated 30 years of service to Huron Inc. before retiring in 2020. She loved reading, camping, gardening, and making her husband take on an endless list of projects. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandbabies and spending time with her lifelong best friend, Deb (Mike) Olar.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Joe; two daughters, Melissa Rebenock and Amy Buchheister; six grandbabies, Brandon, Landon, Elahna, Layla, Hunter and Lilly; brother, Don Thieke; three sisters, Barb (Roger) Hawker, Ruby (Ron) White and Ruth Currier; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Thieke; sister, Helen Brown; and nephews, Denny Thieke and Jamie Foster.

Graveside services will be held in Caswell Cemetery followed by a memorial event to celebrate her beautiful life in August, during her birthday weekend.

The family kindly requests memorial contributions of perennial plants and flowers, which will be used to create a memorial garden in her honor.
