Virginia Lois Tuthill, 96, of Marysville, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
She was born on November 15, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Arthur and Eva Garner. She married Donald E. Tuthill on April 14, 1951 in Griswold Street Baptist Church, Port Huron. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2023 after 72 years of marriage.
Virginia graduated from Port Huron High School in 1947. She was employed with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. and retired in 1990 after 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of Griswold Street Baptist Church and served on the retiree’s monthly luncheon committee. Virginia loved watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, Pistons, Lions, and Michigan football. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two children, Jeanne (Steve) Sawdon and James Tuthill; grandchildren, James (Kristen) Sawdon, Katie (Jared) Griest, Matthew (Becky) Tuthill and Brittany Tuthill (fiancé Shane Jehl); great grandchildren, Caroline, Madie and Baby Boy Sawdon due in September, Annie, Clara and James Griest, Zoey and Nathan Tuthill, Gavin Tucker and Jaxson Jehl; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol VanBuskirk, Patricia Ailio, Connie Dodd Cooper and Barbara Geick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Alex Boese will officiate. A livestream of the service will be available on Virginia’s obituary page of the funeral home website.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be James Tuthill, Matthew Tuthill, Shane Jehl, Steve Sawdon, James Sawdon and Jared Griest.
