Nancy Towell Scancella
Nancy Towell Scancella, 75, of Port Huron Township, died Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
She was born February 25, 1951 in Port Huron to the late Leslie and Elva Toles.
Nancy was employed in homecare, including hospice, VNA, St. Clair County Medical Center and most recently MediLodge of Richmond before her retirement in 2020. A talented and creative crafter, she made more than 200 teddy bears over the years. Nancy cherished time spent with her family and looked forward to long phone conversations with her sister in Kansas. She enjoyed taking scenic drives, especially to the Lexington Pier and the Croswell Swinging Bridge, where she loved walking and people watching. She also enjoyed bicycling on local trails with her brother-in-law and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two children, Kevin Andrew Towell and Kimberli Ann (Chip) Meister; five grandchildren, Kevin Jr. (Amy), Quinton, Vance, Allana and Corey; three siblings, Kay (George) Britton, Carol Dial (Lynn Price) and Skip (Susie) Zeller; many nieces and nephews; and aunt, Kay Ryan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norborn E. Towell; grandson, Joshua Meister; and three sisters, Mary (William) Pincomb, Ella Mae DeView and Georgia Stewart.
Private family services will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
