Vernon Ray Sexton, 77, of Kimball, died Thursday, June 25, 2026.

He was born April 1, 1949 in Logan, WV to the late Vernard and Lillie Dell Sexton. He married Hope Ann Sullivan on May 26, 1972.

Vern was a jack of all trades and could build anything. He enjoyed doing household repairs, lending a hand to others and was meticulous and methodical in all his projects. He loved to teach his grandchildren new skills. He was known for his love of pool and his ability to teach the game to others. An animated story teller, he enjoyed sharing his tales with everyone.

Vern is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hope; children, Debra (Nicholas) Hardy, Kay Leideker, Kimberly (Scott) Kendall and Christopher (Suzzanne) Sexton; grandchildren, Alise and Nicole Hardy, Skylar, Victorria (fiancé Tyler Rusch) and Kyle Sexton, and Hailey and Owen Kendall; great grandchildren, Antonio, Celestial, Ryan, Isaiah, Leon, Jacob, Grayson, Adalyn, Emberly, and Easton; brother-in-law, Donald Shoemaker; longtime friend, Mark Tomaszewski; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon R. Sexton II; three brothers, Robert, Harry and William Sexton; and three sisters, Barbara Murray, Nancy Shoemaker and Linda Miazga.

Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Longtime family friend, Matthew Albright, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
