Carol J Hager
Heaven welcomed a faithful servant, Carol Jeanette (Gelatt) Hager, age 83, of Port Huron, on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Carol was born on August 8, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Milton and Leta (O’Dell) Gelatt. She was 15 years old when she met the love of her life, Lauren Hager, of Marlette. They were married on June 10, 1961 in Cass City.
After graduating from high school in 1960, Carol worked at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing and at Christian Rehabilitation Home in Grand Rapids.
Carol and Lauren moved to Port Huron in 1963. She later worked at Marwood Manor and for the Port Huron Area School District, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of service. For 17 of those years, she had the joy of team-teaching exceptional children alongside the love of her life, Lauren.
Carol trusted Christ as her Savior as a child and faithfully served Him throughout her life. Her greatest joy was following Jesus and sharing His love with others. She was a longtime member of Griswold Street Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, worked in the nursery and toddler programs, and served alongside Lauren in the church's youth ministry.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lauren; two children, Jim (Jyme) Hager of Port Huron and Julie (Wayne) Aarum of Delevan, New York; four grandchildren, Emily Hager, Joshua (Chloe) Aarum, Brett (Aubrey) Hager and Whitney (Andrew) Long; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Josie, and Sadie Aarum and a great-granddaughter, Baby Long, expected to arrive in December; sister, Phyllis (Dennis) Muston; and loving caregiver, Cheryl Woolman.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026 in Griswold Street Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Ben Moses and Carol’s grandsons, Josh Aarum and Brett Hager, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be Josh Aarum, Brett Hager, Andrew Long, Anthony Loria, Matt Hager and Philip Muston.
