Dorothy Elizabeth McCormick, 83, of Marysville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
She was born December 25, 1928 in Port Huron to Oliver M. “Scotty” and Gladys Hanton. She married Donald M. McCormick on January 4, 1949 in Port Huron. He died January 19, 1994.
Dorothy graduated from Port Huron High School in 1946 and received her clerical degree from Port Huron Junior College in 1948. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, the Martha Circle and Church Women United. She was a past officer and P.T.A. advocate, supported the P.H. Hockeyettes girl’s team and with her husband Don, dedicated endless hours to the Port Huron Babe Ruth League. For 55 years, Dorothy was an active member and past officer of a close knit group of women known as “Child Study Club.” As the years passed and grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived, this group of friends remained dedicated to each other and family.
She is survived by four children, Thomas (Doris) McCormick, Kathleen (Robert) Duckworth, Gloria (Jeff) Allen and Carol (Jerry) Jowett; seven grandchildren, Michael McCormick, SuAnn McCormick, Heather Nelson, Annie Osmer, Tony Allen, Katie Bader, and Jessica Jowett; eight great grandchildren, Skylar, Lilly, Jayden, Ethan, Keegan, Aiden, Cloe and Johnny; sister, Marianne (Gerald) Andrews; brother, Douglas (Ann) Hanton; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all the “Clan.” She was preceded in death by a grandson, Greggory E. McCormick.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend John Grenfell will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Wales Township. Pallbearers will be Michael McCormick, Christopher Nelson, Tony Allen, Jerry Jowett, Dean Hanton and Scott Andrews.
