Shirleen R. VanCleave

Shirleen Ruth VanCleave, 64, of St. Clair Shores, died Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 2, 1961 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Shirley Bittner and graduated from Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores. Shirleen was a dedicated wife and mother, and also worked as a legal secretary for several years until her children were born. Shirleen loved to watch TV, especially “her” soap operas, was a coffee fanatic, and could often be found indulging in her favorite snacks, including root beer and cheese puffs.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Bittner (fiancé Jewel Parrish) and Mark (Deana) Mackinnon; two sisters, Stacey Bittner-Liddy (David Liddy) and Suzanne Bittner; and several cousins including Lisa Bittner-Gardynik (Eddie Gardynik).

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue, Marysville.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 (which would have been Shirleen’s 65th birthday) at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. A meal and gathering to honor Shirleen’s life will follow the burial at her son Daniel’s home.
