Martin Joachin “Marty” Habalewsky, 73, of Port Huron, died Thursday, August 27, 2026

He was born June 8, 1953 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Sophie Habalewsky. He married Ruth Taylor on May 10, 2008 in Port Huron.

Marty graduated from Bishop Foley High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit. Throughout his career, he worked in journalism, public relations and marketing. He was passionate about environmental and social justice issues and had a wide range of interests. He enjoyed golfing, listening to music and striking up conversations with people.

Marty served as a state board member for the Sierra Club and was actively involved with the Port Huron Chamber of Commerce, Strangers No Longer and Habitat for Humanity. He was also a longtime member of Holy Trinity Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Ruth; two sons, Paul (Erin) Habalewsky and Justin Habalewsky; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Benjamin) Weston and Nicole Taylor; five grandchildren, Logan, Dylan, Connor, Natalie and Andrew Weston; sister, Claudia Mallet; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery.
