Heather L Scholfield

Heather Lynn Scholfield, 54, of Fort Gratiot Township, died Sunday, August 30, 2026.

She was born November 22, 1972, in St Clair to Christopher and Judith Scholfield and graduated from St. Clair High School and Western Michigan University.

Heather’s desire to help others led her to earn a master’s degree in Psychology and begin a career in counseling. She most recently worked as a practitioner at Professional Counseling Center in Port Huron. Heather found meaning in providing compassion, care and understanding to those in need.

Heather loved all animals - from turtles and skunks to cats and dogs. She often took care of strays and animals in-need, and in recent years, had rescued and fostered over 20 cats. She was also an avid gardener, spending countless hours creating beautiful areas of native and tropical plants. Her most recent project was landscaping the entire perimeter of her apartment building.

Heather will be remembered for her big smile, bright blue eyes, infectious laugh, Doc Marten boots, and feisty personality.

She is survived by her parents Christopher and Judith Scholfield; her partner of 5 years; her work family; countless friends; clients who loved her dearly; and 10 cats, Angus, Esme, Nicodemus, Xerxes, Simon, Maximilian “Beast”, Nina, Harvey, Edna, and her beloved Winston.

Private graveside services were held at the Lakeside Cemetery Columbarium in Port Huron.

In honor of Heather’s love for animals, memorial contributions to an animal charity would be appreciated.
