Virginia Atkins

Virginia "Ginny" Atkins, 88, of Ruby, went to be with our Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012.

She was born August 23, 1923 in Ruby to the late Frank and Sarah Goodwin and was a lifelong area resident. She married Elmer L. Atkins on January 1, 1944 in Ruby. He died October 26, 1997.

Ginny graduated from Port Huron High School and retired from Hamill Manufacturing. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, traveling and was an avid Tiger fan. She attended Ruby Methodist Church.

She is survived by six daughters, Carol Wetzel of Port Huron, Elaine (Gary) Hillger of Kimball, Gayle (Richard) Kippen of Ruby, Diane (Robert) Leslie of Lakeport, Noreen Johnson of Lakeport and Sarah Atkins of Kimball; two sons, Edward (Cindy) Atkins and David (Lisa) Atkins, all of Smiths Creek; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; two sisters, Florence (Ernest) Warzinski and Barb (Ken) Sparr; three brothers, Clarence (Beverly) Goodwin, Fred Goodwin and Kenneth (Betty) Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bert L. Atkins on June 22, 1957; a sister, Myrtle Diem; and four brothers, Eugene, Bert, Calvin and Curtis Goodwin.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Lisa Clark will officiate.

Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Atkins II, R. Scott Kippen, Nicholas Atkins, Alpha Wetzel II, Richard Kippen and Gary Hillger Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hillger Jr. and Robert Leslie Jr.



Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Water Hospice or Diane Leslie to be shared among Virginia's caregivers at Oasis AFC Home.
