Melinda K Oswald
Melinda Kaye Oswald, 60, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, September 12, 2026.
She was born on July 3, 1966 in Port Huron to the late Melvin and Thelma Oswald.
Melinda graduated from Port Huron Northern High School and Baker College. A natural-born caregiver, Melinda worked with the Bright Futures program, helping adults with special needs. A yearly highlight for Melinda was the Labor Day family trip to Cedar Point that started when she was a young girl. From the kids’ attractions to the big coasters, she loved the thrill of the rides and the precious time with her family. She also enjoyed relaxing in pools and visiting family and friends in the warm Florida sun. More than anything else, though, Melinda cherished being an aunt, and was truly more like a “bonus mom” to two generations of her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a brother, Denny Weston; a sister, Patricia Jackson; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and several very special animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clintina “Tina” (Daniel “Buck”) Vernocke; a brother, Melvin “Ruddy” Oswald Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Deborah Weston.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering to honor Melinda’s life at the family homestead will be announced. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot.
