Nancy J Sheaffer

Nancy Jo Sheaffer, 90, of Port Huron Township died Saturday, September 12, 2026 of natural causes.

She was born on December 10, 1935 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Russell and Dorothy Grumling. She married David Sheaffer on August 23,1958 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Nancy received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Indiana State Teachers College and Master’s degree in Music Education from University of Michigan.

A born teacher at heart, Nancy started teaching private piano lessons at 17, and continued doing so for the next 63 years. She also taught with the Port Huron Area School District for 27 years. She enjoyed, reading, playing the piano, listening to music, and traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, David; two children, Chris (Laura) Sheaffer and Amy Sheaffer (Ron Lovell); three grandchildren, Reid Sheaffer, Grant Sheaffer (Audrey Hawkins) and Anna Sheaffer; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Grumling; nephews, Matthew Sheaffer, Eric Grumling, Jeff Barnes, and David Barnes; nieces, Nichole Sheaffer, Jennifer Gresh (Grumling), Diane Barnes, and Pam Briery (Barnes). She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Grumling

The Sheaffer family would like to thank the Lakeshore Woods care team of Jennifer, Brenda, Ashley, Sierra, Jenny, Wendy, Grayson, Amanda, Angela, Jill and everyone who cared for Nancy during her time there.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 3036 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Huron Music Teachers Association.
