William M Lester Sr.
William Michael “Bill” Lester Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September13, 2026.
Born April 13, 1946 to the late Raymond and Esther Lester, Bill was the youngest of seven children. He married the love of his life, Marion Stein, on October 29, 1965.
Always the hardest worker, Bill supported his family by becoming a Journeyman Millwright and working for companies including New Haven Foundry, Boeing and Domtar Paper. A “Jack of all trades”, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends who needed his skill.
When Bill wasn’t working, he enjoyed being with his family: grilling out on the back porch(es) that he and his son kept building, or grabbing ice cream to appease his and his daughter’s sweet tooths. Unofficially crowned the world’s best “Pooper-picker-upper”, Bill was a fur-dad for longer than he was a people-dad. In fact, he had a whole pack waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge.
Affectionately called ‘Poppie’ by his grandchildren, Bill’s favorite title has always been husband. Married for 61 years, he worked together with Marion to create a foundation of love, support, and a little bit of sarcasm for his family to stand on.
Matthew 7:24-25: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Bill is survived by his wife, Marion; his children, Tammy (Ronald) Hoover and William (Christine) Lester Jr.; grandchildren, Diane (Ryan) Beurskens, William “Billy” Lester III, Alyssa Lester, and Olivia Lester; great grandson, Kaden Beurskens; many nieces and nephews; and his life-long friends, Norman and Deborah MacDonald.
Bill was preceded in death by his three brothers and three sisters.
Cremation has taken place and private family services have been held.
